ONE (iPad and Mac): Compatibility

Not getting sound/no input or output from ONE for iPad & Mac

Please go through these steps to ensure that everything is set up properly:

 

 

Setting up ONE’s inputs:

 

Internal Mic

 

To use ONE’s built-in internal mic, launch ‘Apogee Maestro’ from your Applications folder, go to the ‘Input’ tab and click on the ‘Analog Level’ drop-down menu for Input 1 and set it for  ‘Int Mic’.

Gradually bring the input level in Maestro up until you get a good level from your input source. Make sure the meter isn’t going into the red.

 

 

External Mics

 

Connect your Mic using only an XLR cable (no 1/4″ adapters or cables) to the XLR input 1 of ONE’s breakout cable.

Launch ‘Apogee Maestro’ from your Applications folder, go to the ‘Input’ tab and click on the ‘Analog Level’ drop-down menu for Input 1 and set it to ‘Ext Mic’.

If you’re using a condenser mic that requires phantom power, choose ‘Ext Mic 48v’.

Gradually bring the input level in Maestro up until you get a good level from your input source. Make sure the meter isn’t going into the red.

 

 

Guitars, Basses, Keyboards, Hi-Z Mics that have 1/4″ cables, such as harmonica mics:

 

Connect your Instrument using only a 1/4″ instrument cable to the 1/4″  input 2 of ONE’s breakout cable.

Launch ‘Apogee Maestro’ from your Applications folder, go to the ‘Input’ tab.

Gradually bring the input level in Maestro up until you get a good level from your input source. Make sure the meter isn’t going into the red.

 

 

Setting up ONE’s outputs:

 

Using ONE with DAW or audio playback software:

– Launch ‘Apogee Maestro’ from your Applications folder, go to the ‘Output’ tab and set the  output to ‘Out 1-2’ (the drop-down menus under the software output knob)

– Confirm that the mute button isn’t engaged in Maestro’s output tab.

 

 

Using ONE without any software- input directly to output:

 

– Launch ‘Apogee Maestro’ from your Applications folder, go to the ‘Output’ tab and set the output to ‘Mixer’ (the drop-down menus under the software output knob)

– Confirm that the mute button isn’t engaged in Maestro’s output tab.

What happens when I receive a call while recording with my Apogee interface?

Monitoring and recording is interrupted in Apple GarageBand and other Audio Apps from the ONE for iPad & Mac, Duet for iPad & Mac, Quartet, JAM, JAM96k, MiC, or MiC96k when a call is received. Once the call has ended or declined monitoring and recording is resumed.

Unless calls are more important than creativity? It is recommended that in the iPhone> Settings Do Not Disturb is turned On. This will prevent a call from interrupting that perfect take or inspired performance.

iPhone Settings

The iOS cable won’t stay connected to my iPhone or iPad

If you have a case on your iPhone or iPad, it may be obstructing the iOS connector from being inserted into the jack all the way. Please remove the case or cover to verify if this is the cause.

If you do not have a case or cover on your iPhone or iPad and the cable won’t stay connected, then there may be a problem with the iPhone or iPad, the Apogee product, or the cable. Please contact the Apogee Support Department to further troubleshoot the issue.

Can I make phone calls on my iPhone through the Apogee?

No. Though it’s possible to use iOS compatible Apogee interfaces with apps on the iphone, the interfaces cannot be used with the phone call function. The iPhone’s phone call function can only use the built-in iphone microphone, or the microphone on a headset plugged into the iPhone’s headphone jack.

Is my Apogee product compatible with iPad Air?

YES!  The following products have been tested and are fully compatible with iPad Air:

  • Duet for iPad/Mac
  • Quartet for iPad/Mac

Is ONE compatible with Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9)?

Yes! ONE (1st gen) and ONE for iPad/Mac are both fully compatible with Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9).  Please be sure to download and install the latest 10.9 compatible software package for your product from Apogee’s site.

Are Apogee’s products compatible with iOS 7?

YES!  The following products have been tested and are fully compatible with iOS 7 on iPad, iPhone or iPod touch:

  • Duet for iPad/Mac
  • Quartet for iPad/Mac

 

Apogee strongly recommends upgrading the Maestro App when using iOS 7 with the following products:

  • ONE for iPad/Mac
  • Duet for iPad/Mac
  • Quartet for iPad/Mac

To upgrade Maestro, simply tap the “App Store” Icon and go to the “Updates” tab.  If an update is necessary, Maestro will appear on the list of Apps and you will need to tap the Update box to download.

Where can I get an iOS Lightning cable to connect my ONE, Duet or Quartet to iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch?

If you already own one of these Apogee products and do not have the Lightning cable, you can purchase one from the Apogee online store (USA only) or your local distributor.

The Apogee Lightning cable provides a direct digital connection to Apple’s iOS devices with the Lightning connector including iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPad (4th gen.), iPad Mini and iPod Touch (5th gen.).

 

Please Note: Duet 2, Duet FireWire and ONE (1st gen) are not compatible with iPad/iPhone, only Mac.
